Teams links within Teams desktop app

Why when I'm sent a link to a file in teams, within the teams app, it doesn't open within the app? it opens in my web browser. (I'm using a Mac)

    @Martin ,

    The reason should be that you configure browser as default app used to open Word, Excel and PowerPoint files that have been shared in Microsoft Teams.

    You can check the default app in your client by click …(More attachment options) next to the file > click Open in. If you want to change the default app, click Change default to modify the app. The following image is for reference:
