    Greatly explained.

    Unfortunately, when trying to map the drive, I ran into an error saying that I need to open the actual Sharepoint page in Internet Explorer before being able to map the drive. It worked well with IE mode in Edge, but at the same time I am questioning, how would I be able to deploy this in a GPO? If the user manually needs to open the trusted website in IE (or IE mode in Edge), this will never work.

    When you sign into 365 and open the site where the data is there should be a clickable option to create a mapped drive/shortcut on the PC

    Hello @nevin jaison ,

    Please follow the steps:

    StepA: Add the SharePoint site to Internet Explorer's Trusted Sites

    1.Internet options >> Security >> Trusted sites >> Sites

    2.Add this SharePoint site to the zone >> Close >> OK

    Note: Entering the ROOT site onto the Trusted sites list, prevents having to add individual trusted sites if connecting mapped drives to more than one library in the site.

    StepB: Use the Map Network Drive wizard, to map the site as a network drive

    1)Open File Explorer, click This PC >> Computer >> Map network drive.

    Note: When you click Map network drive, you may be prompted with another dropdown menu. If so, then from the dropdown options, click Map network drive.

    2)The Map Network Drive wizard opens.

    • On the Folder text box, paste the full address of the SharePoint library that is to be mapped.
    • Tick the Connect using different credentials checkbox.
    • Finish

    3)A Windows Security dialogue box appears. Then, enter your Office 365 login credentials, and click OK.

    4)Your SharePoint site is now mapped as a network drive, and may be viewed through File Explorer.

    Thank you for the concise and easy to understand guide; it seems like no where else online was able to explain it this simple.

    Unfortunately, though, since Microsoft has cut support for Internet Explorer and will not even allow it to launch on Windows 10 or 11 anymore, this is no longer a viable solution for SharePoint users. The new Sync feature seems to be the best alternative for businesses trying to use SharePoint like a mapped drive - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/sync-sharepoint-files-and-folders-87a96948-4dd7-43e4-aca1-53f3e18bea9b
