Excel 2019 Business copy/paste not working properly

Hello,

I've searched for quite a bit and found a few threads with same problem as i have but none of the threads had any answers(that worked atleast).

The problem:

When i select a specific range and right click copy OR ctrl+c :

  • the copy marquee isn't animated(not a problem but worth a mention if it helps for identifying problem)
  • the marquee disappears after random amount of time which ranges from 1 second up to 10 seconds

What the problem causes:

If i right click and go for the paste options BEFORE the marquee disappears, i have all the paste special options available. If the marquee disappears before i manage to select a cell into which i want to copy selection, in that case i can only paste values(no formatting, no formulas, no colors, etc.)

Interesting thing that happens is, if i press ctrl+c twice(or more times) then the marquee sometimes stays for a lot longer and i'm able to paste formulas around. In some cases if i double press the ctrl+c i get a problem prompt with clipboard saying "There was a problem with clipboard, but you can still paste the content in this workbook".

Things i have tried:

  • Checking for updates(i'm using Excel 2019)
  • Making sure the required option in Cut, copy, paste section is checked
  • Tested with new sheet, new workbook
  • Tested in safe mode
  • 2 company support guys with more than 30 years of experience were also trying to solve the problem with no success
  • Last thing i tried was office repair tool(both offline and online), none of them changed anything

Thanks for the answers!

    Hi @Irena Knez ,
    Welcome to Q&A forum!

Please go to File>Account in Excel app to check and share the detailed version with us, for example:

According to your description, it seems that all Excel files on your machine have this issue.

    1. When did this issue start? Have you performed any updates or installations before?
    2. Can other Office apps copy and paste normally? Such as Word and PowerPoint.

Please try the follwoing steps to check this issue.

    • Open an Excel file, and go to Home>click the drop-down option of Clipboard>click Clear All.

    • Go to Windows Settings>System>Clipboard>click Clear button to clear clipboard data of Windows.

If none of the above methods work, please try to create a new Windows administrative account.
Any updates, please let me know.
