File Explorer Issue

Apparently, I've accidentally clicked on something that has changed what is displayed when I open a file from my File Explorer. The contents of my files are no longer displayed in English (the language in which all my files are written), and although I'm not a programmer, I think that it's the programming code that is now being displayed.
I haven't been able to locate a heading or an option within the File Explorer to 'Undo' an action, and since I don't know what I've done to create this situation, I don't know where to begin to look for a remedy or a procedure to reverse or correct it.
I'm trying not to panic, but it's a frightening problem, because all my files are maintained in my File Explorer, and as far as a can determine, I have no real access to any of them until (and unless) this problem is solved, and I have absolutely no idea as to what I'll do, if this should prove to be unfixable.
I'll very much appreciate any assistance and/or help I may receive, and I'll be most grateful to anyone who can tell me what I must do to undo whatever I've done to create this problem and make it possible for me to read (access, use and work with) my files.
Thank you very much.

It looks like a problem with Default applications.
    Go to:
Setting/App & Features/Default Apps/ go to the end and click reset to the Microsoft recommendeden defaults.
