I want to decompile dsll files using dnSpy tool in visaul studio 2022. I have downloaded the dnSpy extension (in visual studio 2020->Extensions->Manage extensions->online->dnSpy->download) and when I tried to open the dnSpy tool it is showing an error message "You must specify dnSpy path in options". In order to specify the path I couldn't find any dnspy.exe file .

Can anyone help to resolve this issue ? Or is there any other tool to decompile the dll files ( and xamarian app) other than ilSpy, dnSpy and dotPeek ?

Looking forward for you responses!

Thanks

    Hi @Manjeet Kaur ,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

I believe the extension you mentioned is "GoToDnSpy" extension. The error you met, yes, should be a common error, or should say it’s a prompt.

Here, author of this extension has mentioned this error, and the solution is to set the dnSpy path in VS > Tools > Options > GoTo dnSpy. And you may need to download the latest dnSpy build from CI, just like the author mentioned.

You can ask this question to author directly, if this issue persists.

    Best Regards,
