Unactivated Windows Server 2019

So Windows Server 2019 will automatically shutdown after the trial grace period.

Does the same happen for unactivated non-trail version Windows Server 2019? For example, if someone installs Windows Server 2019 with a VL version of Windows and does not activate it, will it shut down automatically after 90 days? Or does it just sit there complaining that it hasn't been activated?

Sometimes people install Windows Server OS and don't put the key in, for whatever reason (they are probably just being lazy). I want to understand if we need to be hot on our toes if people do this as I don't want to impact production.

    Hi @David Joy ,

As far as I know it does not happen to non-evaluation versions, they will simply remain unlicensed, however auditors will definitely not like this so the recommendation is to always license the operating system that you're using.
