I have an echo issue when using teams. When on a teams meeting if I am not on mute the person on the other end hears a bad echo from my laptop. It it only on teams because this is not an issue on Zoom. I tried using the computer's audio (real-tek) and then tried using and external microphones audio but the issue is still there. I tried downloading new drivers from my computer - Dell Laptop but still get a really bad echo. It is a fairly new laptop (month and a half) but there were some updates which were downloaded. I suspect the issue is in teams. I am wondering if there is a way to fix this issue. I have take all enhancements out in the sound app.

I am the IT manager in my company, and trying to find out what's going on. We recently bought five new identical laptops, and only one of those experiences this problem.

Sample of the issue: Alice Bob and Charlie are in a Teams call. When Alice has the mic turned on, everyone else hear the speaker's voice going through Alice's speakers to her microphone, resulting in an annoying echo. None of them is using headphones or external speakers.

Not the fan, not even remotely. Having this same echo issue. Using a Company Provided Laptop - Windows 10 Enterprise , Surface Laptop Go Model 1943 i5 - must be connected to a company VPN at all times due to the type of work I do.

Anytime I am on a teams meeting with someone, if I am not muted, I cause anyone speaking to echo badly - as in their words repeated .5 seconds after they say it initially.

This occurs whether I am remote, working in office, using a headset with a mic, using my laptop mic. Teammates I meet with do not experience this issue on other teams calls that im not on, and I do not have this issue when meeting on Zoom or WebEx.

I unfortunately have to use Teams, as that is the company wide preference for meetings - and not all of our people can be in office at all times/some are completely remote 100%. This is really not efficient for collaborative work, as the mute button is not as quickly enabled/disabled (even with keyboard shortcuts) when trying to discuss back n forth. Also my manager feels terrible having to constantly keep me on mute when im actively contributing to the meeting.

I find it odd that this has been an issue since (at minimum) 2021, but there has been 0 real fixes actually posted, or that this has been acknowledged as an issue. Please fix, my IT guys have finagled every laptop setting possible and nothing has fixed it.

    Hi @Janice Abel ,

I think you mean the fan noise of the laptop.

Please use a high noise suppression: More options > Device settings

And here is an article about this:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/reduce-background-noise-in-teams-meetings-1a9c6819-137d-4b3b-a1c8-4ab20b234c0d

    Hope this could help:)

    Best regards,
    Lou

We too always have an echo with Teams.

We do not get an echo with Zoom, nor do we get an echo with Google Meet.

We will stop using Teams until Teams fixes this problem.
