Hello,

I'm trying to set up dynamic distribution lists in our organization, and want to use Custom Attributes.
When I look at the attribute editor i see some attributes that I think could be the correct ones, but I'm not sure.

What attributes do you need to sync to use them for dynamic distribution lists?

    Hi @Anonymous

We could refer to the official document which lists the attributes that are synchronized by Azure AD Connect sync.
    In Exchange online

And please note that, in a Hybrid Exchange environment, the on-premises Dynamic Distribution Groups (DDGs) are not synced in Azure AD / Exchange Online (EXO) and this is by design.

Reasons for DDGs not to be synced:

The attributes used for the DDGs queries might not be synced or named the same in Azure AD, therefore the query might not work or have the same results in the cloud as they have in the local Exchange.

In the cloud we have a flat structure so we do not have Active Directory OUs, therefore some location-based queries will not work in the cloud as they are on-premises.

    Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for your clarification, if you want to use Custom Attributes as a ddg condition, you could refer to the steps like below.

Users' custom attribute can be seen and edited in their mailbox detailed information, for example, custom attribute1 here can mean user site, and they can mean anything you want and have different values :

Then in ddg, we could set the condition, for users' custom attribute1 equal siteA then they will be a member in this ddg

You could also refer to the official document to learn more about Manage dynamic distribution groups in Exchange Online
And this previous thread also gives an example using custom attribute to create different ddgs, it might be a bit long, you could take a reference as well:
Access to multiple Dynamic distribution lists
