Azure AD Connect on Windows Server 2022

Hello,

After Azure Connect V2 installation failed on Server 2022, I realized that it requires 2016 or 2019.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=47594

Is there a way to make it work on Server 2022, too?

Thanks,
Peter

    Yea, thats interesting.
So here's what I know ( and I havent tried installing on W2020)

    This says:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/hybrid/how-to-connect-install-prerequisites

Azure AD Connect must be installed on a domain-joined Windows Server 2016 or later.

    and this:

    https://dirteam.com/sander/2021/07/28/five-things-you-should-know-about-azure-ad-connect-version-2/

Azure AD Connect v2.x installs on Windows Server 2016, and up. Today, it means you can install it on Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019 and Windows Server 2022 (Preview).

I'd be curious what the exact failure reason is though...

What is the failure message? Where does it say it requires 2016 or 2019?

    Hello Andy,

In the download page's system requirements section. (find the link above)

There was no exact error message just a hint that it failed and I should find details in the system logs.

Do you think that it supposed to be working?

    Thanks

I could not capture the error message because I decommissioned the VM in the meantime, thought I will go rather with 2019.

Eventually I gave a second chance to 2022 and today I re-deployed the VM, joined to domain, installed the Azure Connect, run the Express config, promoted the VM to DC. Everything is working as expected (so far)

So it's not an issue anymore. Thank you for your responses.

    Hello Peter!

Please let me know how this is going...

Did you managed to make it work on Server 2022?

    Stay safe.

    Thanks,
    Ricardo.
