After removing Internet Explorer 11 via the Windows 10 features, many users are unable to report spam via the Proofpoint Report Phish button. If IE 11 is reenabled, the functionality is restored
Proofpoint PhishAlarm is not the only Outlook add-in that is giving error messages after IE 11 was removed. There are others as well, indicating this is not unique to Proofpoint. There is an Outlook dependency on the presence of IE 11 on a system for these add-ins to work. We suspect this is related to IE being the default browser when the add-ins were installed. So when IE was removed, the plug-ins appear to be looking for IE or some of its components and hence fail. When IE is restored, the plug-ins work.
Please let us know why IE is required in these cases and what we can do to remove this dependency on IE 11.
