I have a Teams chat with 13 users. Until recently anyone could drag and drop or share files. Now only 1 person can do this everyone else receives this message in the chat window. We have tried to fix this for a week now, nothing is working. Any help is appreciated.

    Hi @Alan Lindabery ,

Could you open the file tab and upload files there, clicking Share and Upload from my computer?

Note there should be no External user in your group or you may couldn't upload files to this group.

You mean the other 12 users could not upload files and receive this error right?
Could these users see the files in Files > One Drive > Microsoft Teams Chat Files even they failed to upload?

And please check this official document: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/troubleshoot/files/cannot-upload-files-or-access-onedrive?tabs=Error-Message-2
You could run the test to see if these users are able to upload:)

Also you may try the Teams for Web client on browsers and if that could work, please try signing out and re-signing in or reinstalling the Teams client.

    Best regards,
    Lou

    Hi @Alan Lindabery ,

Is there something common between the people who can't send files to eachother? For example, is there always at least 1 Guest involved in the chat when it fails?

I am having an issue where 1 Guest is involved in a group chat and it results in issues sharing attachments when the default tenancy sharing option is set to 'Share with everyone in the organization'. The default behavior is that a Member attempts to send a file to a Guest, but as a Guest they are 'not in the organization', so the user needs to change their selection to 'share with specific people'. They can do this on most file types, but not image file types, which is an issue we are also having. I am thinking we need to change the default sharing option to 'specific people'...

the problem has been resolved. Files uploaded into Chat-Files are not actually the files but placeholders/links/shortcuts to the file in sharepoint. If the file changes location or name is updated, then teams cannot find it or places multiple links into Chat-Files since the original file has moved/changed in sharepoint.
To avoid this issue we now only upload to the Teams Channel Files location and not in Chat-Files
