I'm using versions 2019 and 2022 preview. The documentation links back to v2017 and references to "Launch with Profiling Paused". Is this feature still available in 2019/22? If so, how do I access it? I'm mostly using instrumented profiling with a desktop C++ app.

Sorry, forgot to reply. No, it doesn't help. It refers to 'performance explorer'. I don't know what that is. I'm just using MSVC 2022. Debug->performance profiler. There's a 'start with collection paused' button but it's not visible when using instrumentation. I think it might be working with sampling but it's very difficult to see when it is collecting data and when it isn't.

Having the same issue. Older versions allowed you to start instrumentation paused. VS2019 got the option to at least pause instrumentation and record only the interesting section. New VS2022 is lacking the pause option. Seems like it didn't get ported from 2019 to 2022. Makes working with performance profiler in instrumentation mode more or less useless for bigger applications. Report is huge until you reach the interesting part in your app.
