Updating links between MS Excel to word and ppt

Question

Hi I would like some specific advice as I have been using the paste special function between excel and ppt/word.

I have noticed sometimes the links will not update in the new documents, please advise on an error-free way to go about this?

If you have any details about under what circumstances they stop working, that would help.

Paste Special links depend on OLE technology. OLE links always include the complete path to the linked file, so two scenarios that will knock them out is moving the linked files to a different location or trying to open them on a different computer.

When you open these new documents, is there any message prompted?

Please right click the link > Linked XXX Object (Such as the Linked Excel Object as following image) > Links > Make sure the "Automatic Update" is selected.

If this option is selected, I would suggest you open the linked Excel workbooks first. Then please open the documents includes the linke to have a check.
