Hi Team,

I was using Dell Inspiron with Windows10. For better performance I upgraded laptop with new SSD with windows OS on it, keeping the default hard disk by removing DVD drive slot. I can see all the prior data to use, but I can't see older OS or use the installed apps on the Prior Hard Disk. Is there a way to get the prior installed apps working by not disturbing SSD and with existing OS(win10) in it?

Thanks
Chandra

    Hello @chandra Reddy

This highly depends on which apps. I would suggest to create your question to the support or forums of each app manufacturers on "How to migrate this app to another computer" or "another Windows installation.

    The main reasons are:

    • Some apps will allow you just to copy from Program Files, or to execute from the installation path on the old drive.
    • Some apps have libraries and other install files that can´t be moved or are in undetermined folders (not the default installation path)
    • Some apps perform changes in the registry (such as classes or own key chains) that you may not be aware of

Hope this helps with your query,

You could make a virtual machine which uses the old hard disk for its OS then use the apps inside that VM.
