DataListView - What steps should I do to archeive this effect

Dear All

How to archeive this effect? Using the DataListView or DataGridView, when I press the 'RMS' keys, the 'RMS' will be highlit, but not the 'E'.

Can you elaborate on RMS as there is a RMS keyboard and doubt that is what you mean.

No, RMS is not the name of any keyboard.

I mean when I press R, R is highlit, Then after I press M, M is highlit. In the sceen captured RMS are pressed, so only RMS are highlit. After I press E, the whole column RMSE will be highlit. If I press T instead of E, no more letter will be highlit. There should be a variable storing the matched keys the user pressed.

This is a effect helping the user knows how many keys he has entered. The above screen is captured from an application, which was written in VFP.
