Windows Server Backup: event log is inaccessible

After upgrading from Windows Server Essentials 2016 to WSE 2019:
Opened Windows Server Backup and found the message "The event log is inaccessible. Only messages for the currently running operations will be displayed", followed by a list of backups (run twice daily) that "completed with warnings"
Any idea why the message appears but I still see Backup results?
