SharePoint incoming emails issue

Hello everyone,

I'm currently setting up Incoming emails settings on newly SharePoint 2016 farm.
To resume the goal of this, as it's a PREPROD env., the idea is to redirect all email traffic generated by the farm, to the SMTP Server of the farm to import the email into a library (globally, an SMTP filtering).

The configuration seems to be OK, as I'm able to generate a mail with a notepad, save this on the Pickup folder of the SMTP Server. I'm able to see the mail going to the Drop folder and disappear after one minute: the mail is successfully imported in the document library.

I did many tests, and it's working perfectly when the mail having the common headers, like To/From/Subject/x-sender/x-receiver and so on.

However, if the email contains more specific header generated by SharePoint, like x-sharing-wssbaseurl, x-alertservertype, etc., the email is stuck in Drop folder.

It seems that SharePoint add headers in emails, but if these headers are present, the incoming-email process won't work for them. Is it normal?
I did research on Internet, but no luck on this subject. Wondering of it's normal or not?

Let me know if you need more information.

Kind regards,
jlmsy

    Hi @jlmsy , welcome to Q&A forum!

Per my research, SharePoint does add some similar headers to emails and will not receive similar emails. In other words, SharePoint cannot send email to itself. So we want to confirm if you are sending an email to yourself?
