I recently moved by exchange databases from Ex1-2016 to another Ex2-2016. Using this guidelines.

Ex2-2016 is the only box configured to send and receive emails.
From Ex1-2016, i Left the database status as Dismounted status, later on the database status changed to unknown. A user was mistakenly created in a stale database that exists in Ex1-2016, and I'm unable to move the user to a production database that exists in Ex2-2016
Note:
Ex1-2016 is still operational but not being used to send and receive emails.
When i try to mount the stale database in Ex1-2016, i get the following error.
Was this a DAG in DAC mode?
If so, you can try:
Start-DatabaseAvailabiltyGroup -MailboxServer Ex1-2016
and see if that lets you then mount that DB
Thank you @Andy David - MVP , i was able to remount the db after that command. Now i can perform the database dial tone move without issues.
The command just had a one missing parameter, identity of the DAG. It prompted me to add it, hence i was able to bring the db into a clean shut down.
