Backing up my tenant

Hi everyone,

This may seem like a silly question but the research I have done is so ambiguous.

The company I work for uses Microsoft 365 cloud as a service where we utilise the usual SharePoint, dynamics, word online etc.

We have no on-premise storage aside from the individual devices we use to access the cloud.

Is it required to independently back up with azure, is that possible with cloud based services or is the data already backed up? I am thinking about disaster recovery mainly. Obviously if a Microsoft data centre was to be flooded our data would be restored from elsewhere but a malicious attack could do more damage?

So do I need to back up manually and if so some docs on how would be great.

Many thanks in advance,

Matthu

@Matt Thank you for contacting us!

Azure backup does not currently support Office 365 backup. There is a comment item created for this requirement, you can leave your valuable feedback here - https://feedback.azure.com/d365community/idea/0631b8bc-0725-ec11-b6e6-000d3a4f0858

For now, you should plan to back up Office 365 with some third-party solutions.
