Managing an Org wide Teams, how are owners selected from AD

Hi. I've created an Org wide team and its added a number of Owners, how are these owners selected? I thought it may be from roles in Azure, but doesn't appear to be. Any help or advice would be appreciated. I can't find anything about this in the MS documentation for creating an Org team.

Hi @LouD

By default, a user who creates a new team is granted the owner status. After adding a member to a team, an owner can also promote a member to owner status. It is also possible for an owner to demote their own status to a member. For more details about how to create Teams from O365 group, you could read this article.

Thanks for your response. This is correct for a private or public team but is different for creating an Org Team. I created an Org team, it uses AD to select all users automatically into my Org team. However, there are many Owners in my Org Team. I can understand the Global Admin users are automatically added but there are a few with no roles and can't figure out what it is being used to select these staff - they have no roles in AD. Even if I edit the Org team, as soon as the sync Azure/Teams it will revert back. SO I need to know what in AD is being used to select the owners for an Org team.

This is the only doc I can find on it and it doesn't describe what I am experiencing.

Hi @LouD

For org-wide wide Teams, the global admin and Teams service administrator will become Teams owner automatically. These Team service admin could be set in Office 365 admin. For more details about how to set it, you could refer to:

So we recommend you check if those owners are Teams service administrator or global admin.
