Hi,

I need to rebuild SCSM Data Warehouse and I am looking for some detailed steps. I know I have asked this question in the past : scsm-data-warehouse-rebuild

and was answered with the steps as below:

• Unregister the SCSM DW in the SCSM Console or Powershell (Unregister-SCDWSource).
• Deinstall the SCSM DW components
• Delete the SCSM DW databases
• Install the SCSM DW components (new SCSM DW databases will be created)
• Register SCSM DW in SCSM console

Can someone have any detailed steps with screenshot that I can follow?

Or

If anyone can answer the below questions in these steps:

• Unregister the SCSM DW in the SCSM Console or Powershell (Unregister-SCDWSource).

• Deinstall the SCSM DW components
What do we do here exactly? Do we remove SCSM from Control Panel>Program and features on the SM Management server?

• Delete the SCSM DW databases
What steps are involved here and what databases do we delete? Does this involve opening SSMS and deleting CMDWData Mart, DWRepository, DWDataMart, DWStagingandConfig, OMDWDataMart? Do we delete any other DBs from below screenshot:

• Install the SCSM DW components (new SCSM DW databases will be created)
What is the location for SM installation media?

• Register SCSM DW in SCSM console

Apologies for asking so many question. I have been back in the Service Manager world after a gap of 4 years. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance

Which version/updateRoleup of SM management server and DW management server you already installed?

Here is a detailed tutorial. Follow the instruction to point no. 14. Then take backup. If you run the sql server and DW management server on the same machine just take a snapshot/checkpoint. Then follow the tutorial and check how far you can go and update your question if any error occurs.

    With respect to you questions:

    Deinstall the SCSM DW components
What do we do here exactly? Do we remove SCSM from Control Panel>Program and features on the SM Management server?

Go to Control Panel>Program and features on your DW management server not SM management server.

    Delete the SCSM DW databases
What steps are involved here and what databases do we delete? Does this involve opening SSMS and deleting CMDWData Mart, DWRepository, DWDataMart, DWStagingandConfig, OMDWDataMart?

Remove CMDWData Mart, DWRepository, DWDataMart, DWStagingandConfig, OMDWDataMart, ReportServer and ReportServerTempDB. As it mentioned in the tutorial. Then switch to Analysis Service and remove DWASDataBase. There is also the possibility to leave the report server databases as you can read here.

What is the location for SM installation media?

I'm not sure what are you asking about.

Unregister the SCSM DW in the SCSM Console or Powershell (Unregister-SCDWSource).

    Unregister-SCDWSource -DataSourceName <ManagementGroupName> -DataSourceTypeName "ServiceManager"

Here you find two ways how to discover your managmeent group name.

So, we did a rebuild but used a wrong management group name.
We decide to try again as we were able to figure out the correct name for the management group.

Now when I try to "Deinstall the SCSM DW components" on DW management server, I get the below error:

The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing the package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 25453.

The 2nd time I get the same error with error code 25211.

Can some please help on how I can uninstall this?
