Scanning embedded documents in Word

We are an organisation running Office 365 and have Microsoft 365 E5 security licencing in place.

Does Microsoft offer a solution to scanning embedded documents within Word?
I haven't been able to find any documentation on this.

In case there are malicious scripts or contents (e.g. Micro or Vulnerabilities) , then Microsoft Defender is able to detect and remove them , so if you scan a infected Microsoft Office document (e.g. Microsoft Word), it would be able to detect and remove such a content.

I know Defender will detect malicious script in a document but does that include, for example, an embedded Excel spreadsheet within a Word document?
Is there any way to test this?

You may try run a quick test, try use the malware test file (which is a safe file but Anti-Malware software will detect it) and you may download it from:

https://www.eicar.org/?page_id=3950

Then you may open a Microsoft Office word file and add this as an object inside the Word document and see how it behaves.
Normally, it should be detected in the scan and if not then when real-time protection is on and it tries to execute it will be detected.
