Need help to change on VM from Public to Private connection

Dear Experts,

I am very new into this could technology. I have recently bought just one VM to enable one of my resource to access this VM with Windows from her Macbook Air.

This VM has public IP, which is why she is not able to connect to our client VPN from VM. Client VPN connection is checking if VM IP is private.

If we change this public IP of VM to private and have only my resource or me connect to VM from our respective laptops will it allow my resource to successfully connect to client VPN?
If yes, where can I set this up? and limit only my resource or me can connect to this VM?

I no, then do I need to add this VM IP into our company private network, have my resource first connect to our company VPN from her Macbook and then access VM? and from VM to connect to client VPN?

Please guide, any help would be much appreciated.

The VM has no access to the VPN connection on your laptop, you would need to install your VPN client on the VM and connect from there.
The fact that the VM has a public IP (as well as a private one) has no bearing on this.,
