Outlook changes the senders email address

I am currently using the WIndows 10 Outlook app and I have two accounts configured (one office365 and one not). One of them has a number of aliases associated with the account which I use to prevent the mail account name being exposed, so any spam hits an account alias (which I can delete) rather than the main account name itself (which I cannot delete).

When I send an email, I carefully select the alias from which I want to send the email but when I press "send" I notice outlook puts "sent on behalf of" in the email and changes the reply address to the email address I do not want exposed!! I do not want it to do this.

How do I just send and email from an Alias, so that the recipient replies to the Alias and not the main account. The particular account to which I am referring is not using Exchange Server / Office 365.

Thanks

    Hi @Ian Morris ,
    Thanks for your reply.
According to your description, since it is an IMAP account, I can't perform a test to reproduce your scenario.
But based on my search, you can refer to the solution of Outlook account:

    • Add the alisas as another account in the Outlook profile.
To do this via File > Info > Add Account
Here is an article for your reference.
