MS Excel shared strings maximum number

It seems that more than 1 million shared strings cannot be genereated.
I write all parts of an Excel 2013 xlsx with an Application and the Result seems to much.
It can be "repaired" but the Cells in the last sheet contain mostly numbers 1.0E6 up to 1.029256E which seem to be the indexes into shared strings above the 1 million.

Can there be more than one file shared strings and if so how to adress it in the sheets?

Very unfortunately MS-Q&A does not cover questions regarding Excel, I didn't realize that but ...
So I'll post that in https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=excel which states that it has been migrated to MS Q&A :-( Looks like a game with no winner.
Anyway, if anybody here reads this and has an answer feel free to tell me the solution, thanks.

As I said in response to your Feedback question I think you should be able to post in office-excel-itpro
