user unable to pin network items to quick access

A user is trying to pin a folder from a network drive to quick access and is getting an error message

i've tried:
running updates
using the del %appdata%\microsoft\windows\recent\automaticdestinations* and that didn't work
clearing file explorer history and reset defaults
sfc /scannow

    Hi @Chris Williams

    besides the %appdata%\microsoft\windows\recent\automaticdestinations folder did you also delete %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\CustomDestinations ?
