Outlook Flags - when Flags are assigned to Sender but in Sent Items shows assignment for Recipient

This is happening with an O365 server and Outlook 2019 Version 2110 Build 14527.20276. This is primarily a cosmetic issue, but it's still weird. I have one user who will set a Flag for herself by clicking on Follow Up\ Add Reminder\ Flag for Me. After she sends that email she'll check her Sent Items, which displays the flag being set for the recipient, even tho it is not.

    Hi @Anonymous ,
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum and posting your question here.

According to my test, the result is as follow:

    • For the sent message, it is not feasible to remove flag for recipient.
    • For the new message you are composing, it is feasible to do so.
On the Message tab, in the Tags group, select Follow Up > cusomize > Uncheck the box "Flag for Recipients"

Besides, here is an article about flag enails for your reference.

Hi @Anonymous , thanks for you reply.

However, when she goes to Sent Items is showsFlags as assigned for the RecipientThat is due to the sender didn't cancel the option "Flag for Recipients" when setting Follow up for the new email.

I'm sorry to tell you that sender can't remove the flag for recipients for the sent items,
So given this case, it is recommended to use the following workaround:

    • Uncheck the option"Flag for Recipients" when writing new mail.

      157752-new-email2.png
(It is recommended to write a new email and cancel this option to see if it will automatically create follow up for the recipient)
    • The recipient can remove the flag via right-click the email > follow up > clear flag
If above doesn't help, personally suggest check the version number of Outlook (File > Office Account > About Outlook)
and upgrade to the latest.(File > Office Account > Office Updates)

I'm sorry if I'm not being clear, but it sounds like you're not understanding my issue. My user is not flagging for recipients but her Sent Items looks like she is. Additionally, my she is not able to Clear Flags for any of the emails in her Sent Items.

    Hi @Anonymous ,
Thank you very much for your explanation, I think I already understand what you mean.
According to my search for known issues, I found this issue in an official document,
Therefore, as a solution, it is recommended that user upgrade Outlook to the latest version
via File > Office Account >Office Updates
