SharePoint 2016 On Premises - Popularity Trends usage report after migration

Hi everyone,

I have migrated SharePoint 2016 to another server. Everything was going perfectly until I notice that the Popularity Trends Usage Report was returning values just from the day I did create the environment and not everything that I had from the previous server.

To fix that, I did backup the logging database of the old server, restored it in the new server, updated the association between service application -> new database by running the powershell command "Set-SPUsageApplication -DatabaseServer <DatabaseServerName> -DatabaseName <DatabaseName>" and re-ran the timer jobs.

Today I went to check the results on the report but unfortunately not only I did not have data from the previous months but also the results from yesterday were not presented.

The EventReceivers are set true on both AnalyticsUsage and RequestUsage.

Any idea about how to fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,
Duarte Sousa

    @Duarte Sousa ,

    Popularity Trends usage report is generated by search Analytics Processing Component, and all relevant data is stored in Analytics reporting database, not the WSS_Logging database.

    For your situation, we suggest you move the Search Service application databases to the new server, after that, make sure it works good and your crawl is running successfully.

    In additon, check that the Usage and Health Data service is up and running and connected with the web applciation.

    Make sure Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Usage Data Import and Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Usage Data Processing timers jobs are running.
