Sharing and Editing Files in Teams Chats

Hello, my team is having issues sharing and editing files in private Teams chats. If someone shares a file with me in a private chat, how can I open and edit it in real time? I have no "edit in Teams" option from the ellipses, only options to "Open in" Teams or MS Word. If I open in Teams it is read only. If I open in MS Word, sure I can edit, but I have to save a copy and then re-upload the whole document back into Teams, and then there's multiple copies flying around, which defeats the purpose of file sharing in Teams. Hope that makes sense. Thank you!!

    Hi @Butler, Carling ,

Is the file editable by default? I tried clicking and opening the files shared and I could edit it as I want.

Check if you could choose this option there.

    Best regards,
    Lou

How did you get that screen?

If I open the document that was shared with me in Teams (not Word), there is no tool bar at the top like you have.

Instead, there are just a few options at the top of the page: "Immersive Reader", "Open in Desktop App", "Print", or "Close".
