Cannot upload content to Cloud Management Gateway

We have an MECM server (v2103) with a Cloud Management Gateway enabled. Everything has been working just fine for about a year.

However this this week we noticed that we can no longer distribute new content to the CMG - when we do we get the following errors in the PkgXferMg.log (some lines omitted or redacted):

  • WARNING: Exception occurred accessing storage; StorageException error = (AuthorizationFailure):The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden.
  • STATMSG: ID=9300 SEV=E LEV=M SOURCE="SMS Server" COMP="SMS_CLOUD_CONTENT_MANAGER" SYS=MEMC_Server_FQDN SITE=XXX PID=3180 TID=11732 GMTDATE=Fri Dec 17 17:35:38.571 2021 ISTR0="The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden." ISTR1="" ISTR2="" ISTR3="" ISTR4="" ISTR5="" ISTR6="" ISTR7="" ISTR8="" ISTR9="" NUMATTRS=2 LE=0X0 AID0=400 AVAL0="PackageID" AID1=404 AVAL1="["Display=\ CMG_FQDN\"]MSWNET:["SMS_SITE=XXX"]\ CMG_FQDN\"
  • WARNING: Warning - returning null/empty download address from content upload [PackageID]
  • UploadPackageToCloudWithContentInfo() failed. Error = 0x80131500
  • Failed to distribute content to the cloud DP.

Connection analyzer finds no problems with the CMG and as far as I can tell clients are still able to communicate and access existing content.

What I don't know is what credential or certificate is being used to try and upload the content or why it would suddenly start failing after working for so long.
We are AzureAD joined and use enhanced HTTP using CM generated certificates - I verified that this certificate is still valid.

Short of deleting and recreating our CMG, which I am loath to do, I've no idea where or what to check next.

Any advice is appreciated and I can provide more info if required.

Thanks!

    Did you check the operational logs in Azure against your CMG resource?

    Thanks for the reply.

    Which logs would I need to look at and on which Azure console would they be found?

    We were basically forced into setting up a CMG on short notice (on account of COVID) so I do not have very much experience at all with the Azure side of this...

    Well, turns out that this problem solved itself at some point. Going to chalk it up to cloud shenanigans. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
