Office products hanging when authenticating to blackberry workspaces

When opening protected documents from Blackberry Workspaces, Office shows Configuring your computer for information rights management.

Office build is 2008. Have tried updating to latest build (13127.21846)

Have also tried updating to build 2102 (Build 13801.21092).

Issue started occurring about a month ago or so. Office will open a second window to authenticate through SSO and when you type in your username/password/2 factor token, it just sits at a white screen and does nothing else.

Using BlackBerry workspace through a web browser works fine

    How did you create the connection between Office and Blackberry Workspace? From Office desktop and Open from Workspace?
    Do you use Microsoft Volume License in organization?
    I suggest you check what's the default browser you're using. Try to re-set the browser.
    Then if you enable the firewall or antivirus software, you can try to disable them.

    How did you create the connection between Office and Blackberry Workspace? From Office desktop and Open from Workspace?

    Blackberry workspaces has a plugin required to open protected files, this plugin interacts with the native office IRM/DRM capabilities. The hanging prompt is that of office.

    Workspaces has a native file viewer that puts the protected files in a PDF format, files open fine when using this but for office formats like excel sheets it’s not ideal.

    Do you use Microsoft Volume License in organization? Yes, we were originally on an E5 license, now we’re running on a E3/F3 I believe.

    I suggest you check what's the default browser you're using. Try to re-set the browser.

    Tried resetting to default (edge) does not work.

    Then if you enable the firewall or antivirus software, you can try to disable them.

    Tried without defender or crowdstrike (the two tools we run) no change in behavior.

    This was all working fine up until about a month ago, so not clear on what changed.
