I opened two Excel 2016 windows through RemoteApp on Windows 2016 Server. When I select a piece of table area in one of the windows, hold down the mouse and drag it. Whenever the mouse crosses the cruciform freeze line, the another Excel window which is located at the bottom layer of the entire desktop and covered by other windows(a Word 2016 window) will be displayed but not acticated, although I did not operate on it. Both my RDP client and server are running on Windows 2016 Server.

    Hi,

    1. When did the issue first occur? And have you installed any update or third party software on the windows server before the issue happened?
    2. How about if we only open the Excel app without any other apps (such as Word)? Will the issue persist?
    3. Can we unpublish the Excel and republish it on the session host to see if it helps?
    4. If steps 3 does not help, we may need to try if we can reinstall the Office on the session host server.

    Thanks,
    Eleven

    Hi,

I have done lab test in my RDS environment. I haven't encountered the issue you described. So, opening two 2016 Excel windows should be OK, even though there is other app opening at the same time.

In that case, you might need to capture some dumps or traces to further investigate the issue, which I suggest to contact Microsoft Customer Support and Services where more in-depth investigation can be done so that you would get a more satisfying explanation and solution to this issue.

You may find phone number for your region accordingly from the link below:
