Hello everyone,

I have a problem in my MECM environment (HTTPS), I plan to add a new DP in Windows 10 E machines, I run the task wizard to install a new dp (in the Windows 10 machine 21H1 E), but nothing changes, in log file distmgr.log and hman.log no errors and I don't see the task start to install.

I added the system site to the local administrators group.
I requested this machine targeted for IIS and DP certificate.

I can't find the problem, the log files say nothing.

no idea where my fault is.

I added the system site to the local administrators group.

Is it means that we have added the SCCM site server computer account to the Local Administrators group on Windows 10? If so, yes, this step must be done before we install distribution point role else the DP role installation fails.

The following client OS versions are supported for use as a SCCM distribution point – Windows 10 (x86, x64) Pro and Enterprise. Is the version of Windows 10 E Windows 10 (x86, x64) Pro and Enterprise? Please let we know.

Hi,

Yes I added the site server computer account before running the wizard to install dp and the machine is Windows 10 E x64, do you think I need to decrypt (bitlocker) the drive in the Windows machine 10.

Based on my experience, it need not. If you have to try it, we could decrypt (bitlock) the drive in the Windows 10 machine.

What is our version? Is it Windows 10 (x86, x64) Pro and Enterprise? If not, The following client OS versions are supported for use as a SCCM distribution point – Windows 10 (x86, x64) Pro and Enterprise.

To narrow down the problem, please upload the entire logs, note erase privacy.

Hi,

The problem is not in bitlocker or the version Windows 10, I am using Windows 10 E x64(sccm 2103), but the problem is that when I tested in some subnet, for example the x.x.3.0 / 24 subnet ( vlan server), it works fine, but not in another subnet, I can't figure out where the problem is, I tested telnet on port 445 and 135 are open !!!
And in log file distmgr.log no error and installation start process not showing, in another log file: hman.log I can see site start to monitor this dp and it consider as point dp !!!

What do you think where is my fault or how I can identify the problem.

It may be something wrong with network rather than the application issue. We could solve this problem with our network colleague. If you have any other issues, please don't hesitate to let us know.

how I can identify where the problem is in my network, what is the tests I need to do to explain to my network team that the problem is in the network.

Hi,

Thanks for your update.

Based on my experience, it may be these point: 1. network package filter; 2. Routing.

Due to your complex environment, we could run the wireshark to monitor what prevent the DP installation.

Hello,

thank @Amandayou-MSFT , the problem is solved.

the source of the problem is that the old dp starts in maintenance mode, I don't understand why even in the console is not showing in maintenance mode !!, but after turning on / off maintenance mode for the old dp, i can add new dps.
