Windows App Certification

Our Windows app has been in the Windows Store for over a year. Our Code Signing Certificate is getting ready to expire. We don't plan on publishing updates for this application this year. Do we need to renew the Code Signing Certificate to keep the app in the Windows Store if we aren't planning on making updates to it anytime soon? Or will the app be removed from the Store when our Code Signing cert expires? Thanks.

    Hello,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!

Do we need to renew the Code Signing Certificate to keep the app in the Windows Store if we aren't planning on making updates to it anytime soon?

As far as I know, the answer is no. You don't need to do anything if you don't have any updated plans. But once you want to generate a new package to update your app in the store, you will have to re-associate your app in the Visual Studio first, this will generate a new certificate for you to package your app.

will the app be removed from the Store when our Code Signing cert expires?

No, it won't be removed. It is still available in the Store. Users won't be affected as the license is managed by the Store.

    Thank you.
