Office 365 - shared computer licensing

I am setting up GPOs ready for deployment of the Ofice 365 apps.

Obviously the terminal servers will need to use shared computer licensing, so that option needs to be set in their GPO. I think, given the amount of hotdesking, that I may need to do it with some or all of the clients as well, including some of the laptops which get used by multiple people. Are there any disadvantages to using shared computer licensing on everything?

Thanks

    Hello DavidYorkshire,

In these COVID19 days, hotdesking may present problems beyond licensing and IT support, given concerns about COVID on keyboard surfaces, etc. as well as PPL within close proximity.

I think your question can best be answered in this article.

    Hi,

In regards to your issue, here're my suggestions:
A shared computer licensing is needed when sharing computer activation for Office 365.

The licensing token that is stored on the shared computer is valid only for 30 days. As the expiration date for the licensing token nears, Office 365 ProPlus automatically attempts to renew the licensing token when the user is logged on to the computer and using Office 365 ProPlus.

Thanks, but neither of those really answer the question. What I am looking for is any comments on whether there is any disadvantage to using shared computer licensing for Office 365 apps- it has nothing to do with Covid or CALs. I have read the Microsoft guidance, and there's nothing really there to answer the question.

    Thanks
