An Azure relational database service.
I believe this was an known issue fixed in an update. Can you install the latest version of Visual Studio 2022.

I am having a heck of a time connecting to my Azure Sql Server from Visual Studio 2022. I am using the Sql Server Object Explorer, and my Azure Sql Server/database is created.
However, it does not show as an option:
This feels very broken. How do I get my Azure Sql Database to show in this list?
Thank you for any assistance you can provide

2022-01-06T17:02:15.447+00:00 As a temporary workaround, I was able to assign my Microsoft account as an administrator to my Sql Server using this method here:

Microsoft Account members are not allowedin theAzure Active Driectory -> Set adminfunction in the Azure portal.I then installed Azure Data Studio and was able to connect with my Microsoft Account.
If you read the complaints in that thread, I very much agree. This feels very broken and disjointed. I simply want to connect to an Azure Sql Instance, and it seems the tooling is doing everything but accomplish that goal.
In any case, while I do have a temporary work around, it would be ideal to use one application rather than two to accomplish this most basic of tasks.

Jan Sondergaard 11 Reputation points2022-01-26T21:36:01.43+00:00 It does not appear to be fixed in the latest version. Just installed Microsoft Visual Studio Community 2022 (64-bit) Version 17.0.5, GA release and having the same issue.
As we do all our development against Azure databases, this is beyond frustrating.

I guess we better all get used to typing the server names manually.
It wouldn't be so bad if it was possible to switch databases with the use command or have multiple connections open but nope!

James Wilson 0 Reputation points2023-01-30T08:26:01.98+00:00 I just checked again too and yup, not fixed. I'll raise the issue with our MCA rep but I doubt anyone on the Azure teams would be able to do anything. As others have said, the Visual Studio tooling for Azure seems to have been abandoned.
The main reason I preferred VS to SSMS for SQL editing is because of how slow and buggy SSMS is but I had basically switched back to it.
VS Code is an alternative. Here's the instructions for how to connect:
Once you've created a connection profile, you can connect to the DBs fairly easily (icon on the left bar). It handles DB projects too by the looks of it, which I've not played with much yet.

2023-01-30T18:43:09.08+00:00 Nice try @GeethaThatipatri-MSFT it is exactly now as it was reported over a year ago. :) I am in the preview band due to all sorts of issues encountered with my solution w/ Blazor/Razor development, so yes, Preview 4 here.

Everything succeeds, and apps deploy correctly but stuck at the step where I can check my DB locally. Visual Studio version 17.7.6.
Database connection to Azure does not show up in the SQL Server object explorer.
