SQL Server Registry for ESU updates

How does the SQl Server registry in Azure work? our client purchased ESU support for several SQL servers

Does the SQL server registry have to be created in the same tenant that the server belongs to or any tenant? some MS articles alludes that it can be any tenant

Does the register actually check the server host name at all before offering updates? - I have added a dummy SQL2008 server into a test tenant and there are no SQL updates offered.

ARE there any updates actually available in this program currently, or has this been a giant waste of my time.

Thanks

Sorry for the delayed update, but the email notifications do not work for this forum

I have read those MS articles, but it that doesn't really answer the question that was asked.

there are no SQL updates currently offered to the registered clients, either that, or it's not working. I have no way of telling, hence the purpose of this post.

Since there are no other responses, I will park this question.

    Hi MikeLehmann-8939,

Extended Security Updates include provision of Security Updates and Bulletins rated critical by the Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC). Extended Security Updates will be distributed if and when available. Please refer to Extended Security Updates for SQL Server and Extended Security Updates frequently asked questions which might help.

In addition, you can add Azure tag or open a thread in azure forum so that people there will help you more effectively.

    Best Regards,
    Amelia
