Hello,

We currently have 2 DC having DNS configured as well on both servers.
Both servers OS : Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard.

I wanted to know what is microsoft best practise in terms of DNS (primary and secondary) configurations for both DC ?

Thank you

    Hello anonymous user

The best practice concerning the DNS replication and availability in a Domain would be:

    Server A:
    Primary DNS: pointing to itself
Secondary DNS: Pointing to Server B

    Server B:
    Primary DNS: pointing to itself
Secondary DNS: pointing to Server A

Hope this helps with your query,

Each domain controller should have own static ip address plus loopback address listed for DNS. Optionally add other DC's as well. Read on here for more.
