RSAT not an option W11

HI All:

I am on W11 Business (a new install). I have Googled the hell out of this, and there seems to be only one answer, repeated ad infinitum across the web: Settings>Apps>Optional Features>View Features> Search for RSAT.

RSAT is just not there. I have downloaded several W10 standalone installers, and run them in various compatibility modes, but they are just not compatible with W11.

Can anyone help out a poor admin here?

I am in the same boat. There is no option showing RSAT as you stated and there is no location to download them externally.
I tried the Powershell way and nothing installs.

Very frustrating.

Did anyone ever get a resolution to this? I am running WIn11 Pro insiders as I need IIS but now I can't have RSAT headbang

ok so I had a problem with Win 10 but you may want to try to look in the "More Windows Features" on the right. If its not there scroll down under related settings. location is based on the size of your window so its on the right or on the bottom...check the box for Lightweight Active Directory services. Close the screens and try again.

I don't have the 7 options after .NET... and before Internet Information Services, so no Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services. Windows Surface Pro, Windows 11

Finaly I've found it. there is no word RSAT. Search for "Active Directory"

Hello EvanUrkofsky

You can try installing from powershell with:

Get-WindowsCapability -Name Rsat.GroupPolicy.Management.Tools* -Online | Add-WindowsCapability -Online

Also you can check the presence of the features (even not present) with this one:

Get-WindowsCapability -Name RSAT* -Online | Select-Object -Property DisplayName, State

It would be very strange that are not present, unless we are talking about a Home edition of Windows 11 or maybe you are not logged in as Admin user?

I am, in fact, an admin on that box, and, as mentioned, it's W11 Business. I ran both of the cmdlets in an elevated Powershell session; no errors, but also, nothing happened.

Why does everything always happen to me? :)

if the feature you are interested says State:NoPresent, then install it using (run in admin mode)
add-windowsCapability -online -name <exact-name-of-feature>
For eg,
add-windowsCapability -online -name 'RSAT.ActiveDirectory.DS-LDS.Tools~~~~0.0.1.0'

Apps\Optional Features\View Features
(may need to be Professional and Enterprise edition)

I have this exact same thing. those tools are not showing in the "add optional features" as the user had stated in his original post. the PowerShell commands given also did nothing and were not helpful. Has anyone resolved this issue? Is there an aspect of the installation of W11 that was missed originally? '

Any update, as you @Evan Urkofsky both @Jared L. Young have the same problem that I do and sadly no one on here has an answer, even though they say to type in RSAT....it is NOT displaying ANYTHING.

As I've since discovered, this is an issue with MS not supporting RSAT on ARM (yet). That is my issue; I assume it's yours as well...?

I did find a website that had PowerShell commands for RSAT for Windows 11 for ADDS

Run PowerShell as Adminisrator:

Active Directory Users and Computers

dsa.msc

C:\WINDOWS\system32\dsa.msc

Add-WindowsCapability -online -Name Rsat.ActiveDirectory.DS-LDS.Tools~~~~0.0.1.0

Then I saw Active Directory Users and Computers show up in the Start Menu.

No, I'm sorry I wasn't clear. I have two win 11 machines this only worked on the x64. it did not function on my ARM machine.

lol Yes. I had luck using chocolatey to install other things that would not install directly on my ARM machine (VSCode, i believe). I had also hoped that would work for this, but it just tried, acted as if it succeeded, but there was nothing available for use. I think we just have to wait. it's infuriating.

I have a Windows 11 Languages and Option Features ISO that has tons of CAB files but I can't figure out a way to get them installed! It's an ARM version too, I got it from Microsoft VLSC.

Frustrated having to switch from my Mac to the typical Microsoft experience where everything is convoluted and nothing works, even their own file formats in their OS :D

I am in the same boat as you and have determined it is because you have to pay for it. You have to have pro edition or enterprise. I'm thinking about going back to Windows 10 like the poor person I am and see if I can get AD to work.

Its definitely not in pro, I am on Windows 11 Pro Insider Preview 25309.1000 and there is no sign of it

I stand corrected, it should be possible to install on pro
