Exchange 2010 SSL certificate problem

The SSL certificate for my exchange server expired. I created a request for a new certificate and purchased it from GoDaddy. I have installed the certificate but when I browse to webmail.example.com from an external network I get a certificate error that shows the old expired certificate is being used. If I browse to webmail.example.com from the internal network the certificate displayed is the new certificate. This is preventing clients from sending and receiving email from outside the local network. Any help or suggestions would ve appreciated.

Couple of things to check is,

    1. Make sure that old certificate is not existing on the exchange console anymore.
    2. Services are assigned as shown in the below image
    3. If you are using any reverse proxy solution to connect the exchange server to the internet, make sure that the new certificate is applied there too
