Please I need your help on this issue.

I was searching for a particular user name on Teams search. When I click on the user profile name the email address is still showing ".onmicrosoft.com" instead of the domain.

How do i stop the User email address from carrying ".Onmicrosoft.com" when searching them on Teams Search.

Do you have any operations to this user's domain before?

Do you mean you want to change this user email address (onmicrosoft.com) to another custom domain?

Please notice that you cannot change the name of your initial .onmicrosoft.com domain. So if you want to change this user's domain, you need to have at least one custom domain that you've added to Microsoft 365 before you can choose a default domain. No we are not trying to change the email address.

We have a domain account "Username@keyman .onmicrosoft.com" but when ever we search for this user it shows up on the Team Search.

We have tried to disable the option to hide this domain account "Username@keyman .onmicrososft.com" from the Global Address List (GAL) in 0365 but it didn't work for the Domain account.

Is there a way or it is not possible to hide a domain from GAL.

Please i need your help

I am afraid you cannot complete it.

Teams don’t utilize the GAL and will list all users as long they are in Azure AD

If you want to make some Teams users not be searched in Teams client. You can use your Global Address List Policy in Exchange, then you will be able to scope who users will be able to find from Teams. For more details, you could learn it from:

Thank you for the information. But i have a question.

Applying the information barrier policy will prevent users from adding a member to a team, Starting a chat session with someone, Starting a group chat, Inviting someone to join a meeting, Sharing a screen etc. For more details here it is https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/compliance/information-barriers?view=o365-worldwide

Is there a way we can use information barrier policy to only prevent Searching for a user other than adding a member to a team, Starting a chat session with someone, Starting a group chat, Inviting someone to join a meeting, Sharing a screen etc.

What we want to achieve is to only prevent searching for users?.

Hi @IBN

Information barrier policy is mainly focused on control the communications between the different Teams group. So I think it is not suitable for your requirements id you only want to prevent searching for users.

Based on my knowledge, people cannot search private teams only ones marked public. So if you don’t want them searching make teams private and add people to them. Hope the workaround is helpful to you.
