Outlook crash when switching to or editing contacts

A new issue is being seen by many of our users in the last two weeks where Outlook will crash (with dump) after when switching to contacts. Sometimes it doesn't happen until you try to edit one.

Switching to any view other than "People View" makes it crash much less. You can also uncheck the option "Show user photographs when available" to reduce crashing. I've ruled out the ribbon redesign that some of our customers have as it happens regardless. Running Outlook is safe mode once makes it better for a few more launches of Outlook but the issue returns.

I'm writing here to see if anyone else is experiencing a similar issue. I'll be working through the add-ins we have to see if it's 3rd party software causing the issue.

    Same problem. I notice when it 't crashes, it appears to be associated with People view, and landing upon contacts having contact images; Contacts without contact images appear not to crash. List view doesn't appear to crash as well. MSFT folks, please prioritize and troubleshoot.

    In order to verify your issue, please provide more details:

    • What type of email account are you working on?
    • Do you receive any error when Outlook crashes?

    You can use the following steps to troubleshoot:

    • From your decription, the issue may happens due to some 3rd party issues, run in safe mode and disable add-ins to find out the related add-in.
    • As I know, corrupted Outlook profile may cause outlook couldn't work normally, it's recommended to create a new outlook profile and re-add your account to check if the issue makes any difference.(Control Panel > Mail > Show profiles > Add )
    • If the issue still exists in a new profile, please try to repair your Outlook in control panel to check.
    • Besides, you could try to fix the crashing issue with SaRA tool, which could work by running tests to figure out what's wrong and offer the best solution for the identified problem.

    After creating a new recommended outlook profile, its works for 1 day. Now the same issue as before.
    All addins are deactivated.
    Office 365 new install.
