[PowerPoint API] Accessing Serial Port for Programmatically Control PowerPoint

Question

Hi guys, I have done some research on using office API and i want to access serial port in my add-ins.

I realized that the add-in is actually a web app and it cannot call any library that involves some OS features (e.g. serial port).

However, I want to implement an add-in, such that it can control to my external serial device, and control powerpoint by sending message from the external device.

Is that any way so that the web app can read the serial port?
