edgeupdate Service

Chromium Edge has been updated on both of my Windows Server 2016 1607 servers (one real and one virtual). The problem is that "Microsoft Edge Update Service (edgeupdate)" is deployed as a "Delayed Start" service. However, it appears to start and then abruptly shut down on both Server 2016 and Windows 10. While this is probably acceptable on Windows 10, on the Server 2016 Server Manager Dashboard, it displays as an error condition due to the absence of an Automatic service.

I adjusted the service launch to Manual, but something keeps reverting to the previous setting. I'd like not to disable that service because I do require Edge to be updated. However, I want my Dashboard to display only genuine issues, not "false" ones. I do have WSUS installed; perhaps that would automatically update Edge?

    Hi,

It appears as though the EdgeUpdate service begins, checks for updates, and then terminates rapidly. As a result, Windows believes it has encountered a failure.
I suggest you refer to the steps below.

    1. On Server Manager, click Services in the local server groups.
    2. In the Services Detail View, click the Services drop-down menu.
    3. Locate and deselect the Microsoft Edge Update Service.
    4. Click the OK button.

This will ensure that the service continues to function and the Edge browser receives the latest updates; however, it will not appear on the dashboard.
