RDP handling 2021 Macbook Pro screen notch

Version 10.7.4 (Jan 2022) of the Remote Desktop client for Mac implemented a workaround for full screen issues on the new 14- and 16-inch 2021 MacBook Pros. Unfortunately, the cut-out notch at the top of the screen (holding the webcam) prevents the RDP toolbar from being displayed in the right location.

  • Version 10.7.4's workaround was simply to prevent RDP session screen going into true full screen
  • This means that the Apple menu bar is always shown at the top of the screen and so that there's no interference by the notch positioning

Problem with the workaround is that the windowed screen (i.e. not full screen) has fonts and a display that is less crisp.

Is there a way to revert to the behaviour of the previous Mac RDP client (Dec 2021 release) so that I can get true full screen back?
Would it be practical to set the full screen behaviour as a Preference in future MacOS RDP client releases

Might it also be possible for the RDP client to treat the notch as if it wasn't there (i.e. to sit "behind") the notch. The blue RDP toolbar at the top of the screen is normally quite wide so having some of it blacked out by the notch wouldn't be a big loss.
