I received the same email with "Microsoft account team <no-reply@notifications.skype.com>" as the supposed return email address. Skype is Microsoft. So, it could appear to be genuine. However, this looks suspicious. How would someone add an address to my email account? It is possible but not likely. So, I checked.
What I always do with suspicious emails is to reply to the email. When you do so, check to see who you are really replying to. It will say in the To: box. In my case, the reply address was astriti100@Stuff .com. Gmail and Microsoft definitely have nothing to do with each other. Also, phishers love to use Gmail addresses. It must be easy for scammers to get a Gmail address. If you receive anything supposedly from Microsoft with anything to do with Gmail, like cpeyton@Stuff .com, it is a phishing email.
