Hello,
I would like to know if there is a way of specifying some parameters of a batch activity when it is triggered from ADF.
What I really want to do is specifying the number of slots a tasks needs batch-parallel-node-tasks, as I want to parallelize some tasks using the same node. But not all of them need the same resources. By default one task uses one slot, but in my case I need to use two slots for some tasks.
And in the setting for Batch activity in ADF I don't see where I could specify it
As a side thing I already have my pool specified with some slots per node.

I have been thinking that it might be possible to specify it using a start task... but I don't really know if that is possible :( or if there is another side way of doing it

Thanks for the question and using MS Q&A platform.
As far as I know - I think it is not feasible using Custom Activity that is there in built. However, Did you happen to make use of web activity in the ADF - invoke the batch service with the required parameters ? Will this meet your requirement ?

I haven't tried it yet, so I will now.
As it's a web activity I can guess that the activity will just post the task. But it won't keep a track of it, rigth?
I need to know if the tasks is successful, and when it has finished to procced with other tasks of the pipeline.
Is there some way to sort this?

Thanks for getting back. There are REST API end that can return the status of the of the Job.

You could use the UNTIL activity. Check the Task output **until ** succeeded in an interval.

Well, I am testing things and I am having a hard time with the authentication procedure :(
As earlier I authenticated it through an application key, but there seems to not be an option for this in the web activity....
I am testing it, but it's hard to find explicit documentation on this :(
I have seen that most people usually authenticate using MI, but fir now my company isn't using it.
Do you know if there is some way of authenticating myself using a batch account primary access key?
If you have some input on this please let me know :D

You could pass the key as one of the headers. Is that not meeting your requirement ?

Sorry for the lateness in updating you, I have just managed to launch one task which technically should use both slots. 
What I am confused about is that looking at the heatmap of the pool it shows as if half of the node is idle ( which happened previously when I used just one slot)
As such I have tried to launch another task that uses one slot only, and it's stated as waiting, and it isn't assigned to the node ( so this should mean that the task is occupying both slots)
So, do you know if there is some way to make sure that the task is using the complete node, with all the resources? (cores)

Today I sent two tasks with one slot each.... and I have seen that the heatmap is indeed different (you can ignore that there are two nodes, as that is an issue with the autoscale formula) 
So I am not sure anymore if the Batch node parallelization can be issued in the way I want.... As when a task has more slots doesn't seem to use them, it just occupies them (maybe if you use some kind of tasks parallelization it would use them)
