So did you check that you have that file on the disk?

The message about network device is funny. C:\ does not sound like a network device to me.

I don't think this is due to your previous installation and uninstallation was faulty. But it could be that the download was damaged. I would try downloading again, possibly through a different channel on a different computer.

And, hm, check the quaratine folder for your AntiVirus...

    Hi @Olagunju Oladayo ,

Here I will add that SQL Server is Microsoft's relational database management system (RDBMS), which is a full-featured database. SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) is the primary interface tool for SQL Server. They do not affect each other's installation. You can install SQL Server successfully first, and then install this tool, otherwise it is meaningless to install SSMS successfully.
You have post too little useful information here, could you post a more detailed detail.txt like Erland mentioned?

then i uninstalled express and downloaded the SQL developer edition

I see that you have uninstalled express edition and you are installing developer edition, you need to uninstall express edition cleanly to avoid errors during installation of developer edition.
Please follow the below steps to remove all components of previous installed SQL Server completely:

    1. Remove all SQL Server components from 'Programs and Features'
    2. Backup the registry
    3. Delete the following keys in regedit:
      --HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server
      --HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer
    4. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall and delete all the sub-keys referencing SQL Server
    5. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services and delete all the keys referencing SQL Server
    6. Reboot the machine
In addition, please use an administrator account to reinstall SQL Server on your computer(Right click->run as administrator).

     Best regards,
    Seeya

Warning IsFirewallEnabled The Windows Firewall is enabled

I don't see any error message, only a warning, which you can ignore.
Succeeded the installation? Do you see SQL Server Database Engin in Windows services and is it running?

SQL Server Management Studio is an independent install from SQL Server, you can install it, no matter if SQL Server installed correctly or not.

Once you have installed SSMS, you will notice if SQL Server is running properly or not.

The summary file above is for Express Edition, but you say that you uninstalled Express in favour of Developer Edition. Maybe you should look at that log file instead? You find the log files in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\Setup Bootstrap\150\Log where there is one folder per installation attempt.

A useful is detail.txt. It is very verbose, but this typically where you find why an installation failed.

Once you have everything working, don't forget to download and install the most recent Cumulative Update, CU14, to get bug fixes and improvements!

    Alright. I appreciate this

I will go through the blogs

However, you didn't mention what I got wrong from the detail.txt documents I shared earlier though

    Thank you
