Problem with PIN Staying Setup

My computer is on a company domain. I am having problems with using a PIN for logon and have been working with our IT Dept on a solution, since other users are able to use a PIN to logon. Here is a rundown of the situation and the settings I have verified.

I am able to setup a PIN without any problem. It goes through authentication with my domain account. I can lock my computer and unlock it using the PIN. I am able to reboot my computer and logon with the PIN. However, after logging in, the PIN settings are lost and I have setup it back up.

In Group Policy the following are enabled:

  • Computer Configuration>>Administrative Templates>>System>>Logon>>Turn on convenience PIN sign-in is enabled
  • Computer Configuration>>Administrative Templates>>Windows Components>>Windows Hello for Business
  • Use Biometrics is Enabled
  • Use Windows Hello for Business is Enabled
  • User Configuration>>Administrative Templates>>Windows Components>>Windows Hello for Business
  • Use Windows Hello for Business is set to Enabled

In an effort to also fix to problem, I have deleted the NGC folder in the ServiceProfiles folder tree

Any thoughts on what setting is wrong above or might be missing that is causing the PIN setting to not survive logon?

To close this out. We logged in as another user on the computer and the problem did not occur. We removed my user account completely from the computer and set it back up. The problem no longer occurs. Not certain what was wrong with the account, but glad it is solved.

    Hi there,

There are a lot of reasons that can cause this issue, one of the simplest solutions is to create new users as you did. I would also suggest you run an SFC scan and see if it brings any difference.

-Press the Windows key and X at the same time.
-Choose Command Prompt (Admin) from the context menu.
-In the command prompt, type sfc /scannow and hit Enter.
    -Exit command prompt.

Here is a thread as well that discusses the same issue and you can try out some troubleshooting steps from this and see if that helps you to sort the Issue.
