We are storing our quick books company file on our new 2019 windows essential server. The problem is getting 2 of our remote users to access the company files. We are using Comcast Business and have purchased 1 Public IP for this new server. We have setup Natting and can currently RDP the server. What we cannot do is map a drive (\NattedIP\folder_Name) on the 2 remote computers to the folder containing the Company file, using the natted IP address. I have found many issues that are turned off by default on the server. I have enabled Private network, Ensured all necessary firewall rules are enabled for the Private network. I also enabled the SMBv1 on the server. Do we really need a VPN to get this working?Any help would be appreciated!

Sounds like you'll need to port forward all the required ports. Yes, a VPN is recommended. Opening these ports to the internet is very risky.

So we setup a server VPN and installed the Client on the 2 remote workstations and it is now working! Thank you Patrick!
